School Enrollment set for September 13, 2008

Help your children save their faith and Russian culture! Enroll them into the Church School of the Holy Virgin Protection Orthodox Church in Nyack.

Molieben, student registration for the 2008-2009 school year will be held on Saturday morning at 9 AM, on September 13, 2008. This day will also be the first day of classes.

The major courses offered are: Russian, Law of God, Russian Literature, Russian History and Geography.

Holy Virgin Protection Parish School Opens an Iconography Program

This school year, for the first time in the fifty-year history of Holy Virgin Protection Parish School in Nyack, NY, children are offered a new area of study: iconography. Heading the program is Ekaterina Ivanovna Piskareva, an experienced artist, restorer and icon-painter, accredited by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Mitred Protopriest George Larin, Rector of Protection Church, expressed his profound gratitude to Ekaterina Ivanovna before the rite of blessing the icons "Savior Not-Made-By-Hands," painted by 18 students. He noted her unique talent in passing on her love for the holy art to the young students, which should help them pray before every icon.
